Wheat straw is a large potential resource for heat and power production and a possible alternative to woody biomass. The utilization of wheat straw as a renewable energy resource is limited due to its low bulk density(about 40 kg/m3), which makes handling expensive. The way to overcome this limitation is to utilize wheat straw pellet mill. Wheat straw pellet machine is able to up cycle these straws into profitable fuel pellets which have a much higher density and allow long distance transportation for a fraction of the cost. To achieve a good quality pellet there are a number of critical factors that must be adhered to. These include size of the chopped raw material, moisture content of the straw and amount of waste fines. Our plant is set up to have an automatic constant straw bale feed and can achieve around 2-3 tonnes of pellets per working hour.
Wheat Straw Pellet Mill for Making Straw Pellets
Unlike wood, the density of wheat straw is much lower which means it requires less power to do the compression. So wheat straw pellet press with unique flat die design is totally capable of compressing wheat straw pellets and it can also largely reduce your costs. Straw pellet machine offered by us is apt to deal with wheat straw and other agro-straw. It has a high pellet productivity rate but requires a low energy input. For the ones who would like to run a local pellet fuel business, straw pellet mill is the wise choice!

Wheat Straw
Cellulose, hemicellulose, lignin are the main components of wheat straw. The cellulose content, hemicelluloses content and lignin content of wheat straw are as follows: 41.53%, 22.92%, 12.26%. Lignin becomes soft under certain temperature condition which could help particle bonding. The wheat straw has lower lignin content so wheat straw pellets are softer compared with wood pellets.
Wheat Straw Pellet
Wheat straw pellets are pencil sized pellets that are uniform in size, shape, moisture, density and energy content. They are more easily and predictably handled. This high density and uniform shape can be stored in standard silos, transported in rail cars and delivered in truck containers. Pellets pose none of the explosion risks or environmental pollution from spills as nonrenewable fossil fuels do.
Superiority of Pellets as Heating Fuel:
1. The density of pellets is substantially higher than raw wheat straw. More pellet fuel can be transported in a given truck space, and more energy can be stored at your site.
2. The moisture content of pellets is substantially lower. Less moisture means that very little of the energy produced is needed to evaporate water. Compared with raw materials direct combustion, pellets can be burnt at high temperature with high combustion efficiency.
Superiority of Pellets as Horse Bedding and Small Pet Bedding
1. low dust and moisture content;
2. good absorption rate and drainage;
3. less work to muck out;
4.quicker breakdown when composted
Flowchart of Making Wheat Straw Pellets
1. Crush the wheat straw into powder by a crusher or hammer mill.
2. Dry the straw powder. It is very important to have high-quality, dry, clean material for straw pellets production. Recommended straw moisture level is up to 14%.
3. Pelletizing with a wheat straw pellet mill.
4. Cool the straw pellets in the sun if you make not so much pellets every time.
5. Store the pellets in a container/ silo or pack into bags for future use.
