Bamboo Superiority to Produce Pellets

Bamboo is a kind of biomass materials and had great potential as a bio-energy resource of the future. The composition elements of bamboo is suitable for pressing bamboo pellets. It is composted of hemicelluloses, cellulose and lignin, just like the composition of the wood. Its ash content is relatively low compared with that of agricultural materials such as, grasses and straw, etc. The properties of bamboo make it better as biomass fuel than agricultural residues. Bamboo Pellet

Bamboo pellet compressed from bamboo materials is cylindrical in the shape, usually with diameter of 6-12mm. It is even granular, slick, flammable as well as environmentally friendly. Moreover, densification into pellets could reduce bamboo material wastage and improve ease of transporting and storage. All properties of bamboo pellets could meet the requirement of Pellets Fuel Institute Standard Specification for Residential/Commercial Densified and the gross calorific value could also meet the minimum requirement for commercial pellets of DIN 51731 (>17500J/g), respectively. Bamboo pellets with high calorific value are generally proper fuel to replace oil, coal and other common energy and have a wide range of application like heating, cooking and industrial steam furnace.

Pelletizing process of bamboo pellets 

Crushing – Drying – Pelleting – Cooling – Packing/Bagging

(1) Crushing system

When bamboo material is very thick with long length, we need use the Chipper to chip them into small pieces, then crush the small pieces into powder with diameter less 3mm by Hammer Mill.

(2) Drying System

The moisture content of bamboo powder for pelletizing is around 13%. Dry bamboo is OK for pelletizing without drying. If moisture content the bamboo powder is higher, dry them in the sun or by dryer machine.

(3) Pelleting System

Convey materials into flat die bamboo pelletizer to be compressed into pellets. The key parts of bamboo pellet making machine are made of alloy steel to be very strong and malleable. Die is made of stainless steel. Besides bamboo pellet production, pellet machine is widely used in the granulation of wood, straw, other biomass sources.

(4) Cooling & Bagging System

After the pelletizing process, the temperature and the moisture content of bamboo pellets are high. So cool down pellets and packing them. There is also packing machine for pellet package.
